School was very busy with lots of homework. But now we are on holiday.
The name of my school is Franklin Elementary School. It has under 300 kids, so it is not too big like my school in Espana.
I have lots and lots of friends there. I had a really nice teacher called Ms Kelley. Her son isn’t in my class but he is one of my friends.
We did lots of field trips.
For example, we went to Coyote Hills which is an old Indian village site. But we didn’t see any Indians while we were there. We played some Indian games and saw an Indian house made out of reeds. There were reeds growing everywhere, as there was a lot of ponds nearby with reeds and fish in them.
Another trip was to the Academy of Sciences in the huge Golden Gate park. There was an earthquake room so you could experience being in an earthquake. We did it 2 times! There was an aquarium and also a rain forest which had an albino crocodile. It was a shame because there is a big butterfly room, but it was closed that day.
The Golden Gate park is really huge, there is even a part of it where there are herds of bison everywhere.
One day we went to the Chocolate Factory, as well.
I had some field trips with my science teacher, too. They were close to school. Mr Brantley is one of my favourite teachers!
On the last week of school we went across the road from school to the park and we had a picnic day.
For my birthday, Mum and Dad wouldn’t tell me where they were taking me. It turned out to be Disneyland!
We stayed at the Disneyland hotel for two days.
My favourite ride was Star Tours which is really Star Wars. My other favourites, I’d have to say, were Splash Mountain and Cars.
For Easter we went to Yosemite park. We went with three of our friends, Tomas and Serena and their dad, Eduardo. We stayed in a big cottage which was not quite in Yosemite. The adults slept on the main floor and the kids had the attic bedroom. We had lots of fun at night time because we were playing all of the time! It snowed when we were in Yosemite.
Three weeks ago, me and Mum went to Hawaii. When we were in Hawaii, we went on a helicopter flight over the volcanoes on Hawaii Island, and we also went on a helicopter ride over O’ahu Island and Pearl Harbour. One day we went on a catamaran for the day and we saw some dolphins and one dolphin was doing lots of tricks. We saw flying fish and swum with some turtles and other fishand an octopus.
We stayed there for four nights.
One weekend we went to a rugby game on Treasure Island where Tonga played San Francisco and Tonga won. When it looked like Tonga was going to win by miles, they just stopped the game, even though it wasn’t full time yet!
On the fourth of July, there was the America’s Cup Opening Ceremony in San Francisco. It was so hot, because we were sitting in the sun all of the time. By the time it was over, the shade had reached to only one seat along from us. My Dad went up on stage. And they had some Maoris singing and dancing and doing a haka for Team New Zealand. We got there by catching a ferry, then walked for the rest of the way. On the way back we had to wait in a queue for about 2 hours, because the ferries were full, so they didn’t stop where we were. So they had to send another one, but that could only fit 20 people, so they had to send even another one.
In the morning before we went to the ceremony, we went to watch the Alameda Independence Day parade. We didn’t get to see all of it, because we had to leave to catch the ferry to San Francisco. We saw quite a lot of it, and our favourite Mexican restaurant, Ortaez, had lots of Mexicans on horses which were dancing. My very favourite one was the Alameda theatre because they had lots of people dressed up as Lone ranger, Tonto, Batman and Ironman.
Recently we fostered a pussycat. He is stripey and looks a lot like Jamie did and the vet says he is about 2 years old. He is cute and has strange habits like being a lump under the bedcovers, and getting into cupboards. His name is Jake. He is like a bundle of precious. He cuddles us a lot and likes being the only cat in the house. He came from a place where there were eleven cats living there. He was rescued from a place near Dad’s work, so that was a sign we should have him.
I like living where we are. There is a recreation room across the road and that is where I had my birthday party. We watched a Star Wars movie, and had tacos and birthday cake. We had played tennis and basketball on the courts where we live, and had a swim in one of the pools before we went for the movie.
They had an ice cream social in the rec room this weekend, and one weekend they had a little carnival where you could play games. It was for fundraising.
One weekend we went across to San Francisco and went on the submarine that is there. There is a Liberty ship at the same museum, but Mum and I are going to go there next week, so that we have more time to look around it and find the same place where Papa’s room was on the Liberty ship that he was on.
We also went to the Exploratorium one day. It is a science museum where you can do lots of sciency things like in the Museo de Artes y Sciencias in Valencia.
I am looking forward to getting home soon, but I will miss all my friends here in Alameda.
